Kerry Hills

Kerry Hills takes its inspiration from the distinctive landscape surrounding Kenmare, where gently rolling Cork and Kerry hills and mountains, wooded shorelines and glimpses of the sea are rendered in hand crafted marquetry using natural wood veneers. Together these elements capture the calm beauty, layered forms and constantly changing scenic horizons of the local landscape.

Rather than depicting one particular mountain or viewpoint, the motif expresses the character and rhythm of place and feeling.

The use of natural timber veneers reinforces this connection to place. European walnut forms the quadrant diamond-patterned tabletop, while the rim incorporates bird's-eye maple, featuring walnut, sycamore, burr chestnut and burr oak. The contrasting grains, tones and textures create depth and a rich interpretation of the Kerry landscape, becoming a visual journey that flows around the table. While the NBC TODAY marquetry logo acts as a central focal point, the rays of the sun end on the horizon line.

The name Kerry Hills reflects both the physical landscape and the wider idea behind the piece: a table rooted in its surroundings, bringing the landscape of Kerry into the setting through visual storytelling and a place where people gather, talk and broadcast.
